Earl Stanley Govert, 70, of Peachtree City, Ga. and formerly of Griffith, Ind., died on March 14, 2015.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Barbara Ann Govert, four children, and six grandchildren: daughters Tamatha (John) Camm, Jenny Govert, Monee (Daniel) Klingler, and son Earl John (Heather) Govert; grandchildren Seth Gunnells, Addison Klingler, Earl Travis, Maggie, David, and Isabelle Govert. Additionally, Earl was the oldest of 10 kids and survived by brothers Ronald (Sandra) Govert, Sr., Daniel Govert, Mark (Tyann) Govert, and James (Terri Smith) Govert; sisters Mona (Kevin) Rhoda, Cindee (Ralph) Potesta, Sr., and Gloria Jean (Peter) Dornsife. He was preceded in death by parents Earl B. and Gloria (Holmes) Govert and brothers Donald and Gregory Govert.

Since his boyhood stint in baseball, basketball, football, and golf, Earl has been an avid fan of any sport, any time. He graduated from Indiana University, served in the Air Force during the Vietnam era, and then had an extensive career with the Federal Government. In adulthood, his passions were golf, IU basketball, Braves baseball, his friends, and family – not to mention being a beer and wine enthusiast. He was an usher at Holy Trinity church and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, watching IU basketball with his children, and taking multiple trips all over the world with his best friend, Barb. He was one of the good guys.

A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City, Ga. Burial will follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, he has asked that we remember the Wounded Warrior Project.
