One of the nation’s oldest and largest professional theatre companies for young audiences, Birmingham Children’s Theatre, will present “The Queen of Hearts and the Terrible Tarts” at Spivey Hall on Tuesday, Feb. 24.

In the play, the newly-proclaimed Queen of Hearts Harriet is having a terrible time settling into her new role, and seems to mess up every good deed she tries. She makes a tent for a sunflower, a raincoat for a frog and Brussels sprout tarts for the annual Festival of Hearts. But when the kingdom is threatened by a Trudgian, Queen Harriet learns that not all messes are mistakes and nothing is ever hopeless.

The group will give two performances – one at 9:4 a.m. and another at 11:15 a.m.
