Percy Denton Shierling, Jr., 84, of Riverdale, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2015.

Mr. Shierling retired after 37 years with Big Star (formerly Rogers/Colonial Stores) as a manager and district manager. He was also a member of First Baptist Church of Riverdale.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Betty Lewis Shierling of Riverdale; son, Percy (Norma) Shierling of Fayetteville; daughter, Linda Shierling Coons of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Kristin (Robert) Hill of Fayetteville, Kathy (David) Screws of Sharpsburg, Beth (Roger) Fisher of Newnan, and Kortney (Tony) Staples of Fayetteville; great-grandchildren, Sami Stafford, Brandon Reagan, Nicole Hill, Matthew and Madelyn Screws, Reagan, Stephen and Emily Fisher, Gracie, Kielee and Tripp Staples; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was held on Friday, January 9, 2015 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville, Ga. Internment immediately followed the service at Riverdale First Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends on Thursday, January 8, 2015.
