Whitewater High School Band Hosts VIBE Marching Competition, Welcoming 1,200 Student Performers

East Coweta High School repeats as Overall Grand Champion

Fayetteville, GA — The Whitewater High School Wildcat Band welcomed 1,200 student performers to its campus Saturday, October 3, for the VIBE, a marching band competition that celebrated the artistry and dedication of high school programs.

VIBE stands for Vision, Innovation, Beauty and Excellence. The Wildcat Band created the event as an all-encompassing experience rather than just a contest.

“The Whitewater Wildcat Band is known for bringing happy, colorful and vibrant shows to the marching band arena,” said Chad Reynolds, Whitewater High School band director. “We want to extend that exact VIBE to everyone who attends our competition, from the performing students to the directors and the fans in the stands.”

East Coweta High School was named Gold Division Champion and Overall Grand Champion for the second consecutive year. Fayette County High School took home the Silver Division championship.

Reynolds said the goal was to create a supportive environment where visiting bands felt celebrated.

“We hope visiting bands walked away feeling truly celebrated,” Reynolds said. “Our goal wasn’t just to run a competition, but to provide a supportive environment where students felt inspired by the constructive feedback from top-tier judges and energizing support from an enthusiastic audience.”

Hosting the event also benefits Whitewater students, Reynolds said.

“As educators, we want our students to understand the effort it takes to create something larger than themselves,” he said. “Bringing the VIBE to Whitewater High School gives them pride in their facility, their program and their role as ambassadors for the marching arts.”

The Wildcat Band invites community members to support its students throughout the season by attending future home performances. For more information, visit https://whitewaterbands.weebly.com/
