A request by Senoia to annex 37 acres near Ga. Highway 85 and Ga. Highway 16 into the city was supported by the Coweta County Commission at the Dec. 16 meeting.

County Planning Director Robert Tolleson said his department reviewed the request and, based on the findings, had no objections to the annexation request pertaining to 37.45 acres along the east and west sides of Hwy. 85 and south of Hwy.16.

The property would include a combination of GC (general commercial) and R-40 (residential) zoning, Tolleson said.

The portion of the property on the west side of Hwy. 85 includes only 2.8 acres which lie outside a restricted floodplain. The property would carry the commercial zoning, Tolleson said.

The tract situated on the east side of Hwy. 85 is slated for residential zoning.

Commissioners at Tolleson’s recommendation approved the request with five considerations. Among those were compliance with stormwater management practices, notice of any conditional use filed with the city, the establishment of a 50-foot planted buffer and the city working with the county to provide water service to the area.

The vote to not object to the annexation request was unanimous.
