Fairburn’s Southside Theatre Guild’s upcoming musical production of “110 Degrees in the Shade”  is today. The show is a sizzling musical based on N. Richard Nash’s book and play, “The Rainmaker.” The musical centers around Lizzie, a spinster woman, who lives in her family’s ranch, in a hot and drought-stricken American Southwest town. The plot centers on her search for love and her choice between two suitors: Starbuck, a charismatic con man posing as a rainmaker who can bring rainfall to the drought-stricken, and Sheriff File, the town’s most eligible bachelor. A state wide prevention initiative through the Georgia Center for Child Advocacy presents Darkness to Light’s Stewards of Children, child abuse prevention training. In cooperation with the Newnan Presbyterian Church and Family Patterns Matter, the training is being held at Newnan Presbyterian at 38 Greenville St., Newnan from 9:30 a.m. to noon.. Any person who works with or has children will benefit from this training. The Senoia Area Historical Society is staging its third annual Moth Ball tonight at 8 p.m. This year we will be dancing under the stars on the lovely grounds of the Veranda Historic Bed & Breakfast Inn located at 252 Seavy Street, Senoia.  Music will be provided by DJ Ray McKnight.  It’s a BYOB event so you can enjoy your favorite beverage.  Iced tea and water will be provided.  Light fare will be served. Want a shot at being crowned the 2014 Moth Ball Queen?  Dig out your old prom dress or bridesmaid dress and wear it to the party!  Got an old poodle skirt?  Be creative or come comfortable.  It’s all in good fun.

The Lexus of South Atlanta Summer Concert Series continues today with Michael Bolton performing at The Fed in Peachtree City. After four decades in the music industry, Michael Bolton has become one the most successful musicians of our time. Few musicians have touched so many people’s lives in so many ways.  Bolton has sold between 50 and 60 million records.
Bolton will take the stage tonightat 9 p.m. at The Fred. Opening act is acoustic artist Lauren Matthews who will perform at 8 p.m.  Gates will open at 7 p.m.  Tickets may be purchased at the Box Office or online at amphitheater.org. For more information call 770-631-0630.

Brooks Woman’s Club will be hosting a Tag Sale from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Hardy Hall (town hall) in  Brooks.  If you are a collector of antiques, dishes, crystal, etc..this is the place to be.  Proceeds go to the American Cancer Society and Camp Southern Ground.  For more information, contact Bebe Moore 770 719-3194.

The Fayette County Democratic Committee will be holding a caucus election today to elect delegates to the Democratic Party of Georgia’s State Convention. The DPG’s State Convention will be held in Dublin August 9. The  local caucus to elect delegates  starts at 11 a.m. at the Fayetteville IHOP.

All interested Democratic voters who are registered to vote in Fayette County are encouraged to attend.

Southern Ground Amphitheater in Fayetteville will feature the late-60’s Grammy Award winning band, Gary Puckett & the Union Gap tonight. Opening for Gary Puckett is Atlanta-based group, R&B, Inc. A few tickets still remain, and range from $15 – $25.  The next show will be The Charlie Daniels Band on Saturday, August 9. Market Day has been rescheduled for today due to inclement weather last Saturday at the Lane Brown Gazebo in Downtown Fayetteville.  Fayetteville Main Street welcomes everyone to attend this open air market featuring a variety of vendors showcasing their homemade or homegrown products.  The Market will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Right on Target fundraiser for the Republican Party is today. Admission is free, and prices  for raffle tickets are a $20 donation for one ticket or three tickets for $50.
Only 500 tickets will be sold and they are going fast! First place prize: S&W AR-15 rifle
Second place prize: Glock .45 caliber pistol
A celebration of your second amendment Right to keep and bear arms. The event runs from noon until 5 p.m. Food and fun for the whole family, include children’s activities. Outshoot the Sheriff Competition is also during the event.
