Gardeners curious—or cautious—about snakes commonly found in Georgia will have a chance to learn from a certified wildlife expert at the Fayette Master Gardener Association’s next public meeting.
Jeff Davis, a licensed wildlife nuisance control operator and commercial trapper with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, will present a “Snake Identification” program focused on identifying venomous and nonvenomous snakes and understanding their role in the local ecosystem.
Davis is also certified as a Level 1 and Level 2 venomous snake handler through The Rattlesnake Conservancy and is authorized to handle all venomous snake species found in Georgia. His work regularly involves responding to wildlife concerns and educating the public on safe coexistence with native animals.
The meeting will be held Tuesday, February 17, at the Bridge Community Center, 225 Willowbend Road in Peachtree City. A get-acquainted period runs from 9:30 to 10 a.m., followed by the program at 10 a.m. and a business meeting at 11 a.m. The event is open to the public.
The Fayette Master Gardener Association is composed of certified master gardeners and gardening enthusiasts who share an interest in education, stewardship, and community involvement, and visitors are welcome to attend monthly programs and learn more about joining the organization.
