The Citizen is proud to feature exceptional student-athletes from across our community each week. Whether they’re leading their teams to victory, showing strong character on and off the field, or making steady progress in their sport, these athletes represent the very best of local youth. We celebrate their hard work, dedication, and leadership in schools, leagues, and clubs throughout Fayette and Coweta counties.

This week, we’re proud to feature these athletes:

East Coweta High School
Josmel Burgos-Baez
Football

Josmel is a Senior offensive lineman for the Indians. He is a member of the leadership council and exudes excellence in all he does on and off the field.

Fayette County High School
Makenzie Foster
Volleyball

She demonstrated exceptional versatility by stepping in as setter during a tournament when our primary and backup setters were unavailable. Makenzie’s natural leadership on the court played a crucial role in keeping the team composed, energized, and focused throughout the competition.

McIntosh High School
Madison Stoots
Cross Country

“Madison has been a varsity athlete and team leader for four years. Her hard work and dedication are a big part of this team’s success.” – Coach Michael Johnson

Starr’s Mill High School
Blake Turner
Football

Blake is the focal point of our offense. He is a leader at practice, games, and in the weight room.

Trinity Christian School
Sam Wood
Cross Country

Sam has broken record after record at our school. Sam is currently looking to run D1 in college with a current 5K time of 15:39. More than being an elite athlete, Sam is a fantastic teammate and able leader!

Whitewater High School
Makenna Zeitel
Cheerleading

Makenna works extremely hard and is a great leader for the team. She represents her team and Whitewater in a very positive way. She also was named as a finalist for the Georgia Cheerleader of the Year Scholarship and was named a member of the All State Team.

Chattahoochee Gold – Peachtree City
Preston Sykes
Swimming

Preston, who swam in our developmental group last year, is gearing up for a breakout season as he takes on more competitive racing with confidence and focus. He is extremely respectful and responsible. This summer he has gone best times in the 50 free, 50 fly, 50 back, and 50 breast.
