June 18, 1957 – September 22, 2025

Melody Hope Harris Powell passed peacefully on September 22, 2025, surrounded by love, after a life defined by selfless service, unwavering faith, and the kind of love that reflects the heart of her Lord, Savior, and friend, Jesus Christ.

Born on June 18, 1957, to the late Frances Joan Jarrett and P.C. Harris, Melody was a devoted wife to Steve Powell and a loving mother to her children: the late Grayson Powell and Bailey Weis (Zachary). She was a proud and tender MiMi to her grandchildren: Bohdi, Witt, and Lael Grayson.

She also cherished her stepsons: Brian Powell (Laura) and their daughter Sydney; and Barry Powell (Julie) and their children Tyler, Vivian, and Lola. She loved each of them dearly as their MawMaw.

Melody is survived by her siblings, Karen Davis (Steve), Daryl Harris, and Neal Harris, all of whom she loved with loyalty and grace.

To know Melody was to be loved with rare, selfless devotion. She loved like Jesus – deeply, unconditionally, and without expectation. She prayed without ceasing and lived each day with a servant’s heart. Her steady presence brought comfort, and her faith-filled love left a mark on everyone she encountered.

She leaves behind a legacy of gentle strength, enduring kindness, and unshakable faith. She was, to those who knew her, the very embodiment of compassion and grace.

“Do not be anxious about anything,
but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving,
present your requests to God.
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding,
will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
— Philippians 4:6–7

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to organizations close to Melody’s heart:
