Thanh Ha, known to J.C. Booth Middle as John, successfully became an American citizen.
“John set a goal to become a United States citizen, and he worked tirelessly to achieve it,” praised J.C. Booth Principal Shane Ratliff. “His journey reflects exactly what we ask of our students and staff each day—strive to get a little better every day and you can reach your goals.”
In the years he has worked for Fayette County Public Schools as a custodian, he has learned to read, write, and speak the English language with the help of many of the teachers at J.C. Booth. He took years preparing for his civics test, then took his Oath of Allegiance upon passing.
“He truly embodies our school’s motto: Every student matters, every moment counts. In this case, John was the student, and, with the support of our educators, he made every moment count,” said Ratliff.
The school faculty and staff celebrated his important accomplishment with a party in his honor.
