FAYETTEVILLE, GA (August 4, 2025) The City of Fayetteville is proud to announce the expansion of its Communications Division under the City Manager’s Office into a full-fledged Communications Department. This strategic move is aimed at enhancing the City’s ability to inform, engage, and connect with its residents, businesses, and stakeholders through more dynamic and consistent storytelling.

As Fayetteville continues to grow and evolve, so does the need to communicate its vision, values, and vibrant community life with clarity and creativity. The newly established Communications Department plays a vital role in ensuring the City’s voice is not only heard—but also understood and embraced—across all platforms.

“This expansion marks a significant milestone in how we share our story,” said Fayetteville City Manager Ray Gibson. “By elevating our communications efforts, we can build stronger relationships with our residents, highlight the many positive developments happening in our community, and provide more timely, transparent, and engaging news updates.”

The new Communications Department oversees branding, media relations, digital and social media strategy, video and graphic content creation, public information campaigns, crisis and emergency communication, and the city website. It also supports City departments effectively sharing their programs, services, and events with the public while ensuring all communication initiatives reflect the City’s mission, vision, and values.

Leading this new department is GlenNeta Griffin, who brings over 27 years of combined communications, film, marketing, media and public relations experience, and a passion for meaningful storytelling that reflects the heart of Fayetteville.

“Our story is one of progress, community, and opportunity,” said Griffin. “Our department will ensure we tell that story in a way that resonates with residents and reflects the true spirit of Fayetteville. It’s an exciting time, and I’m proud to be part of this amazing team.”

The formation of the Communications Department aligns with Fayetteville’s Strategic Plan in the areas of transparency, civic engagement, and innovation in public service. The city is actively recruiting for a Communications Specialist and Multimedia Content Producer to join the team which already includes a Public Information Officer, making it a team of four.

One of the immediate storytelling projects include the distribution of the “Telling Our Story”video series spearheaded by the Department of Economic Development.

“The Telling Our Story video series is more than just content—it’s the very heartbeat of Fayetteville’s vision,” said Lori Funderwhite, Economic Development Director. “By showcasing the real people, businesses, and moments that define our community, we connect residents and visitors to the values, achievements, and opportunities that make Fayetteville unique. When others see our story told with authenticity and enthusiasm, they don’t just hear about Fayetteville—they feel it—and that inspires long‑term engagement and growth.”

The series is compiled of ten videos that are being strategically rolled out now through December 2025. These videos personalize the message, spark civic pride, and help drive local economic and investment momentum.
