John Thomas Hewell, 88

John Thomas Hewell of Peachtree City passed away on July 25, 2025, after a long and fulfilling life.

Tom married JoAnn Huddleston in 1959.  During their 63 years of marriage, they had three children, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.  

Tom graduated from Murphy High School, West Georgia College, and Atlanta Law School. He retired from the Gulf Oil Company and Kentec Inc.

After retiring, Tom loved spending his time with his family, with his church, Flat Creek Baptist Church, and with the local Gideons International team.

Tom was predeceased by his wife, JoAnn Huddleston Hewell, his parents Elizabeth Hewell Hammock & John William Hewell, and his sister, Henrietta Simmons. He is survived by his children: Sherri & Gene Walling, Suzanne & Tom Stewart, Dana & Andy Britt; his grandchildren: Chris (Mary) Stewart, Ryan (Siera) Stewart, Kyle (Jenny) Britt, Cameron Britt and Alex (Morgan) Walling; and his great-grandchildren: Ridley Stewart, Landon Groover, and Abigail & Jeremiah Britt; his brother-in-law, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Flat Creek Baptist Church, Fayetteville. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow the service at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City.
