Fayetteville resident and Safelite AutoGlass employee Mark Walker will travel to Las Vegas to compete alongside 150 colleagues from around the U.S. and across the globe in the inaugural Safelite Triathlon and Poker Run. The event, taking place this Saturday, raises money for Ma’Afrika Tikkun, an organization benefiting children and orphans in South Africa.
To-date, the triathlon and poker run participants have raised more than $165,000 for the charity.
From the competition, 12 participants will be selected to represent Safelite AutoGlass, the nation’s leading vehicle glass repair and replacement company, at the London Triathlon. This event is sponsored by Safelite’s parent company, Belron, and brings together employees from 32 countries. It too raises money for Ma’Afrika Tikkun.
Last year, the Safelite athletes presented a check to Ma’Afrika Tikkun upon completion of the London Triathlon for $110,000, which includes more than $37,000 in sponsorship money collected by the athletes themselves. This year, that amount has already been surpassed.
“I’m excited to join these associates in Las Vegas,” said Tom Feeney, president and chief executive officer of Safelite Group. “This is a wonderful event for a good cause, and it’s a great opportunity for our team to come together and tackle a new challenge – personally and collectively.”
