Children affected by the tornadoes that recently hit Oklahoma will receive 68 blankets made by the Fayette County “Project Linus” group.
The blankets are made by women and teenagers who meet at Community Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 340 Kenwood Road, Fayetteville, every first Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. until noon, and every third Wednesday of the month until 3 p.m.
Those who can sew, knit, crochet, use a pair of scissors, or those who would like to learn how to make a no-sew blanket, are invited to join the group.
The group also welcomes those who prefer to work from home. Donations of fleece and flannel material for blankets are accepted as well as cotton blends and quilted material to make coverlets for hospital isolates.
Project Linus is sponsored by a nationwide, volunteer, non-profit organization that makes and provides “security” blankets for seriously ill and traumatized children.
