Bena Sue Burns Livsey died peacefully Monday, July 1, 2013 at her home in Fayetteville, Ga.
Born May 3, 1932, she was 81 years old.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John Richard Burns and Mary Ruebena Potter, and her younger sister, Peg Moran.
She is survived by her four sons, David, Jim, John and Tim and by her husband Bill. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jenna, Caitlin, Sam and Hannah and by her great-grandson Caleb. Bena is survived by her sister Beej Hampton and her nephews Mike, Steve, and Chris Moran and John Rolison.
Bena grew up in East Point, Ga., and attended elementary school and Russell High School. She was active in many organizations and held numerous offices. She was a straight A student and later attended North Georgia College majoring in biology and chemistry and received her degree from Peabody College in Nashville, Tenn.
Bena was married to Bill Livsey for 60 years and traveled across the world as a military spouse. She had her four sons in three years. She was an ideal mother, wife and human being. She was calm, serene and was very active in military activities across the globe supporting our Nation’s Soldiers and military families. Her benevolence supported Army hospitals, Red Cross, Army Emergency Relief, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and a myriad of other volunteer and support activities as the wife of a military officer.
Bena was a devout Episcopalian and a long-time member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in College Park, Ga. She will be missed, but her legacy will live forever for those who have come to know and cherish this great lady.

A memorial service will be conducted at St. John’s Episcopal Church on Saturday, July 20, at 11 a.m.
