He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Inge; daughter & son-in-law, Porscha & Douglas Ober; son, Dr. Michael Biswas; grandchildren Calvin, Christina, and Alexandria, a brother and a sister in India, and a brother in London.
Satyen was born in Patna, India. He had 5 brothers and one sister. Satyen went to the prestigious Bengal Engineering College on a scholarship and graduated in 1955 in Civil Engineering. He participated in sports for his college and was famous for winning many prizes.
In 1958 he earned a DIC degree from London Imperial College and met Inge. As a dedicated engineer he returned to his country. In 1961 Satyen and Inge married in Calcutta and lived there. In 1965 Satyen came to Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh for his Masters in Civil Engineering and graduated in 1967. He worked for Bechtel Corporation for 36 years, retired in Houston and came to Peachtree City in 2003 to be with his daughter and grandchildren. He was member of the Golden Kiwanis Club.
Satyen was always and everywhere a beloved Indian man, married to a German lady, and a respected engineer who made this country his home. He loved Indian music and food, Tagore songs, cooking and people. He enjoyed to travel for family, and at home his garden, his knock-out roses and vegetable patch, and feeding the birds. Satyen lived a life of quiet loving dedication to his wife, children and grandchildren. His gentle kindness and caring, his telephone calls to family and friends will be missed here and across the world. He was where we are, now he is everywhere we are.
