Nicklaus Reed Ward, 22, of Fayetteville, Ga., passed away March 4, 2013 at Savannah Memorial Medical Center as a result of injuries he sustained when he was struck by a car while walking in Statesboro, Ga. on Feb. 8.

Nick was a 2009 graduate of Whitewater High School in Fayetteville, where he was a member of the Golf Team and a two time Region Champ. After high school, Nick attended Central Alabama Community College (CACC) in Alexander City, Ala., where he was a member of the Men’s Golf Team for two years. In 2011 Nick became a Logistics Major at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Ga.

Nicks beloved grandparents Bob and Jean Ward preceded him in death.

He is survived by his loving family, which includes parents Cynthia and Jim Ward of Fayetteville; brother Drew Ward of Newnan, Ga.; grandparents Jerrell and Helen Hightower of Carrollton, Ga.; aunts and uncles Mary and Tommy Mitchell of Fayetteville; Sharon and Tut Smith of Marietta, Ga.; Al and Kathy Hightower of Huntsville, Ala. He is also survived by his cousins Jennifer Mitchell of Fayetteville; Julie (Richard) Minor of Atlanta; Natalie (Eric) Corona of Smyrna; Griffin Smith and Caroline Smith of Marietta; Sarah Grace, Chip and Elizabeth Hightower of Huntsville; Pierce Minor of Atlanta and Smith Corona of Smyrna.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday March 9, 2013 at 3 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church South Campus, 1563 Joel Cowan Parkway (Highway 74 South) in Fayetteville.

The family will receive friends on Friday March 8, 2013, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Carl J. Mowell Funeral Home in Fayetteville.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the CACC Golf Team, 1675 Cherokee Road, Alexander City, Ala. 35010 or to the New Hope Baptist Church Building Fund.
