Three of the final eight teams in the AAAAA bracket of the GHSA state volleyball tournament are from Fayette County.
Seedings for the championships have been posted on the GHSA website, and quarterfinal matchups for Oct. 21 are set.

McIntosh is the second seed behind Buford after winning 3-0 over Miller Grove in the round of 16 and will host Chamblee.

Starr’s Mill is seeded third coming off a 3-1 win over Johnson-Gainesville and will host Harris County.

Whitewater, the fourth seed, won 3-1 over Statesboro in the last round and will host Riverwood.

Should the Chiefs and Panthers both win, they will square off in the semifinal round Oct. 25 at McIntosh. That is the date for all semifinal matches.

In AAAAAAA, East Coweta won 3-0 over Camden County and is seeded seventh. That means a road match against Etowah for a shot at the final four.

Two local teams in the A bracket, Landmark and Our Lady of Mercy, both lost their second-round matches.

The championships in all classifications are Oct. 28 at Marietta High School.
