0Virginia Annelle Atkins (born August 14, 1943), 74, passed away on June 12, 2018, after a long illness. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Leo Lemuel Atkins and Runelle Clay Atkins McClendon, and her sister Jean Matuszewski; brothers-in-law, Stan Matuszewski and John Bowen. She is survived by her children, David Walker and Kimberly Walker of Fayetteville; several grandchildren; and her sisters Carolyn (Dennis) Combs and Sandra Bowen.
Virginia was a longtime resident of Fayette County. She was employed for several years in the 1970’s at AAFES Fort Gillem before she moved to California, where she was an apartment leasing agent. She was also employed by Fayette County before joining Walmart as a greeter in Peachtree City. Virginia was a Christian and believed in Eternal Life.
A Memorial Service will be held jointly with her brother-in-law, John Partin Bowen who passed away June 18, 2018, at the Chapel of Carl J Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville on August 4, 2018, at 4 p.m. The family will receive friends at 3 p.m. prior to the service.
