For the 11th year, several local congregations held their annual “Coming Together As People of Faith – an Interfaith Thanksgiving Service.”
This year it was the B’nai Israel congregation’s turn to host and over 100 local citizens turned out.
Participating were Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, Congregation B’nai Israel, The Episcopal Church of the Nativity, Fayetteville First United Methodist Church, The Islamic Community Center of Atlanta in Fayetteville through The Islamic Speakers’ Bureau of Atlanta.
Representatives from the various congregations spoke including Muhammad Dalcoe, Susan Burden, Kathy Baker, Miriam Beecher, Mark Westmoreland, Ahmed El-Gayyer, Slma Shelbayah, and Soumya Khalifa. Children from the congregations were also on hand and presented their artwork for all to see.
Everyone was asked to bring canned food and monetary donations for The Midwest Food Bank of Peachtree City and it filled several large bins.
To complete the event everyone joined in singing “Let There Be Peace on Earth” and then fellowshipped in sharing the various kinds of food items everyone had brought.
