0The 1st grade at Kedron Elementary took a bite out of their landform studies, making their own edible landforms for a delicious lesson.
Students were tasked with making four main landforms: Coast, mountain, valley, and desert. A graham cracker was the base, with blue frosting for water and cracker crumbs as land. Hershey Kisses were mountains, green icing between the mountains was the valley, and the cinnamon part of the cracker was the desert. They even added a Rolo as a bonus plateau.
“We wanted the students to be able to identify and describe the topographical features of the four landforms,” said teacher Danielle Watton. “This was a hands-on and yummy way to do so!”
