The City of Fayetteville will host a special Town Hall Meeting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, to discuss the recently-passed Georgia House Bill 581. The meeting will take place in the City Hall Council Chamber, 210 Stonewall Avenue West.
House Bill 581, passed during the Georgia General Assembly 2024 Legislative Session and signed by Governor Brian Kemp, introduces changes that will impact local government revenue. This bill includes procedural modifications to property tax assessments and appeals, a new statewide homestead exemption (which local governments can opt out of), and a local option sales tax aimed at providing property tax relief. A short presentation will be delivered followed by a time of questions and answers with the Mayor and City Council.
