Holy Trinity’s bazaar set for Sept. 29, 30
Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City will have its annual Fall Craft Bazaar Saturday, Sept. 29 from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 30, from 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the church. The event will feature a huge selection of handmade crafts including jewelry, wood working, silk scarves and Christmas decorations. Food will include homemade tamales, chili, nachos and a variety of baked goods. All proceeds will benefit the Catholic Heart Work Camp Mission Trip in July, 2013. Mormon musical set for Sept. 30
“Goin’ To Zion!” is the musical story of the Mormon pioneers, to be presented Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. at the Mormon church at 2021 Redwine Rd., Fayetteville (across from the community of Whitewater Creek Country Club).  The program is being presented free to the public. The show has music by acclaimed Georgia composer Melinda Wilson Talley and a book by Victoria Wilcox, member of the Western Writers of America.  Seating is festival style and a capacity audience is expected. St. Matthew’s to host movie screening
St. Matthew Catholic Church in Tyrone (215 Kirkley Rd.) will host a movie screening of the Academy Award-nominated documentary, “Sun Come Up,” on Monday, Oct. 1, at 7 p.m.  The film depicts some of the world’s first “climate refugee” inhabitants of the Carteret Islands just north of Bougainville, Papua New Guinea.  The program is sponsored by the Catholic Coalition on Climate Change.  Admission is free.

Brooks thrift shop will open on Thursdays
The Second Chance Thrift Shop in Brooks  will be open on Thursdays, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.,  beginning Oct. 4.  The community is invited to celebrate on Oct. 4 with one free punch on their frequent shoppers card and a $5 gift certificate give away. All Halloween items will be half price. The annual clearance sale will be Friday and Saturday, Nov. 16 and 17, at Brooks United Methodist Church. The Second Chance Thrift Shop is in Brooks just past the post office.

Sharpsburg Baptist plans Chicken-Q, Fair
Sharpsburg Baptist Church will host a Chicken-Q/Bake Sale/Fair, Saturday, Oct. 13, at the church on Ga. Highway 54.  Tickets are $8 each and are available at the church office, 770-251-6963 or olivebranchladies@gmail.com. Food will be served from 11a.m. -12:30 p.m. to ticket holders. Food will be served to walk-ups until 2 p.m. or while food lasts. Vendor spaces for selling crafts, gently used clothing and other goods from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. (tables not provided) are available for a $15 donation. White Oak barbecue set for Oct. 16
The 29th Annual Fall Barbecue at White Oak Presbyterian Church will take place on Saturday, Oct. 16,  from 11 a.m. -2 p.m.. Perennial favorites, barbecue plates, quarts of Brunswick stew, and pounds of barbecue will be $8 each. Proceeds support White Oak’s foreign and local missionaries and missions. White Oak Presbyterian is located at 2796 Gordon Rd., near the intersection of Ga. Highway 54.

Festival of the Trees set for Nov. 16
Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City invites the community to attend “Celebrating a Season of Joy at the Festival of the Trees” on Saturday Nov. 16, at 6 p.m. at the Wyndham Peachtree Conference Center. The evening will feature dancing, live entertainment, heavy hors d’oeuvres and a silent and live auction. Tickets are $20 per person.
