Christmas displays delight in Fayette and Coweta counties

I love to see Christmas lights. For years I’ve stopped at the Langley’s in Morallion Hills in Peachtree City, as my mom lives in that neighborhood. They are easy to find by turning into the subdivision and driving straight. The Langley lights dance to music when you tune into their radio station. Every year it’s a delight.

But where else can you go to see the beauty and splendor? You could pay for Callaway Garden’s tour, and wait in their outdoor line to experience it, which my family did last year. I remember it as lovely and cold, and a long wait even with timed tickets.

Or you can visit some of the great homes recommended to us by local community facebook groups.  I met some passionate homeowners who want to share with you, and got a bit of a list of other homes that actively have lights up this season. Maybe you can go this weekend?

Both Rebecca Schornack and her husband grew up in neighborhoods where Christmas was celebrated with lots of lights.  “We wanted to recreate that magic and bring some of that Christmas spirit and joy to our little town. We also want to create memories for our daughter for years to come,” said Rebecca.

The Schornacks spend two to three weeks preparing for the Christmas display at their home. Each year it gets bigger and better as it has for the last six years. They leave their display up until the first week of January at 320 Wagon Wheel Trail in Senoia. Lights are on from 6:30 to 10 p.m. and they will have a snow machine on the weekends.

April Harwell’s outdoor décor is concentrated on providing picture perfect moments for families. She said, “Our aim was to provide a space for families to capture cherished memories.”

The Harwell set up took over a week and involved the help of several friends of the family. The Harwell’s will keep their display up until past Epiphany on January 13. April is excited that they are adding a light tunnel this week. Visit the Harwell display at 406 Calgary Dr. in Calgary Place Subdivision in Peachtree City. They’ll run a snow machine on Saturday and Sunday from 6-7 p.m. And their lights stay on, so no restrictive hours to consider.

My friend and florist Sierra Pyron recommended the Stanfield’s Christmas lights at 187 Thompson Road in Tyrone, just off of 74 before Fairburn. She said there’s a Dickens Village set up in the garage.

Our friend Michelle Schwab at Macaroni Kid has also verified a few important light displays.

Not far from the Stansfield display is the mother of all local Christmas displays, The Gaddy’s who have been doing their display for over three decades. 898 Sandy Creek Road, Fayetteville. The display is up until January 1 with lights on from 6-10p.m.

125 Plantation Road in Fayetteville has also been verified by Michelle.

In Newnan, 460 Crescent Drive and 430 Crescent Drive both have great displays, in memory of Thomas Armstrong and Buddy Carr, respectively.

Macaroni Kid also verified 15 Winged Foot Ridge in Newnan where there are handmade wooden cut outs depicting the Christmas story. Tune into 101.9 to listen in from your car.

236 The Boulevard in Newnan has a radio station to tune into as well, 100.1.

103 Leisure Trail in Peachtree City has lights set to music courtesy of the Littman family.

Michelle Schwab also says that McIntosh Corners has beautiful homes lit in Peachtree City.

She recommends and has verified the following homes in Sharpsburg:

• 64 Persimmon Drive, Sharpsburg.
Lights are on from 6-10 Sunday- Thursday and 6-11 Friday and Saturday.  Tune your car radio to 106.3.

• 90 Sweet Bay Drive (same subdivision as Persimmon Drive), Sharpsburg.

25 Mediterranean Ave, Sharpsburg. Animated light show. Show runs from 6-11pm. (Time subject to change based on courtesy to neighbors). FM frequency 100.9

105 Turnberry Trace, Sharpsburg

Other readers said that Bentwood Court, 100 Pinto Point, Sauterne Way and North Cove Subdivision in Peachtree City had beautiful lights.

At The Citizen we hope your season is merry and bright. And that these Christmas lights give you extra joy.
