A man who made the ill-advised decision to flee from law enforcement found himself facing three felony charges when he was taken into custody last week.
According to reports, a traffic stop took place in the wee hours of June 19 near Hwy. 314. Deputies smelled marijuana upon approaching the vehicle, at which time the suspect decided to drive away.
There was a short pursuit before the suspect stopped on his own. No one was injured. He had thrown some drugs out the car window, which deputies found.
Quinton Cox, 40, of Fayetteville was charged with drug possession/sale/manufacture, fleeing/eluding law enforcement, and tampering with evidence. Lesser charges included possession/use of drug-related objects, obstruction of an officer, and eight traffic violations.
Elsewhere in the county, a red Toyota Tundra was pulled over June 19 in the area of Hwy. 74 and Georgian Park because of window tint. The driver was found to have an active warrant out of Rockdale County for battery. That was confirmed and Richard Mosher, 35, of Conyers was arrested and taken to Fayette County Jail to await pickup by Rockdale authorities.
State probation officers along with local police visited a suspect’s home June 18 looking into a possible probation or parole violation. While there they discovered a felony amount of marijuana in the home. Chaz Moore, 25, of Fayetteville was charged with a felony drug count as well as possession/use of drug-related objects.
An officer responded late on June 17 to the Peachtree City Police Department regarding a civil dispute. When meeting with the complainant, the officer discovered that he did not have a valid driver’s license and was driving with a suspended license to get there. Charles Jackson, 39, of Columbus was taken into custody on that charge.
