Mr. Harold Calvin Turner, of Fayetteville, Ga., passed away on June 1, 2012 at the age of 80.
Mr. Turner was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving his country in the Korean conflict. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a devoted Christian and longtime member of the New Hope Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He believed in manners, and made certain that his sons did as well. Harold enjoyed the outdoors and whenever possible a good cold glass of buttermilk with some cornbread.
Harold is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty Jean West Turner; sons Gary Paul Turner and his wife Deborah of Dallas, Ga., Michael Eric Turner of Fayetteville, Stephen Gregory Turner of Fayetteville; grandchildren Jessica Nichols and her husband Shane of Yorkville, Ga., Zachary Turner and his wife Brandy of Atlanta, Stephen Gregory Turner, Jr. of Fayetteville; brother Larry C. Turner and his wife Sandra of Fayetteville; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service was held on Monday, June 4, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville. Reverend Glenn Stringham officiated.
Interment followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, College Park.
The family received friends on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
