The ROAR store got a special visitor when Superintendent Dr. Jonathan Patterson thanked volunteers at Fayetteville Elementary’s Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) store.
The premise of PBIS is that continual teaching, combined with acknowledgement or feedback of positive student behavior, will reduce unnecessary discipline and promote a climate of greater productivity, safety and learning. The Tiger Cubs follow a ROAR Code: Respectful, Obedient, Attentive, and Responsible.
Throughout the year, FES scholars earn Cub Cash as an incentive for positive behaviors displayed during instructional learning and in other settings around the school. All teachers, administrators, and staff members play a vital role in acknowledging PBIS examples.
The school’s ROAR store is open every other month for students to use their Cub Cash to purchase items such as fidgets, novelty pens, pencils, notebooks, and other fun items. Scholars also have an opportunity to use their Cub Cash for end-of-the-semester celebrations in December and May.
Items in the store are purchased with PBIS money and through funds donated by community members. The volunteers who assist in the ROAR store are affiliated with Fayette Presbyterian Church.
