North Fayette Elementary students are learning a whole new game as pickleball is becoming the new rage.

Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in America, and physical education teacher Ed Pluskota introduced the racket sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong to the young Dolphins.

“I feel like it creates a great opportunity for our kids to find an activity they can enjoy for a lifetime,” he said. “As the kids are learning the new skills you can see them improve right before your eyes as they practice!”

Pickleball introduces a lot of new body movements and skills. It is a great way to develop eye hand coordination, and, most importantly, it is an activity that can be played for fun or at a competitive level, promoting lifetime fitness

“The kids are loving pickleball,” said Pluskota. “The school is definitely buzzing about playing pickleball. Kds are constantly telling me they are enjoying learning how to play the activity. Their excitement is to the point were it has piqued parents’ interest, and they have been showing interest in the activity.”
