What in the world is happening

Let’s take a walk around the global neighborhood and see what is going on around us.

When the world elites want to control us on a whim

As part of the United Nations and World Economic Forum (WEF) movement to impose harsh Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) controls over the world population, California approved rules to ban gasoline-powered vehicles by 2035. This is the state that had a rolling blackout on its electrical grid in 2020, and they are decommissioning the nuclear plants. Get ready for a colossal failure.

California is already losing its population and large corporations in significant numbers. The state’s poor forest management allowed wildfires caused by arson, electric utility malfunctions, and accidents to burn out of control in past years. They just blamed it on climate change (but they did sue Pacific Gas and Electric for a $55 million settlement for starting two of the large fires, just don’t tell anyone).

The super-large money managers BlackRock, Vanguard, and others are using our pension funds across the nation to control corporations and government policy around the world. They are extremely friendly with the Chinese Communist Party and fund significant holdings connected to the party. They are the largest promoters of ESG and work with the biggest names in business and government through the World Economic Forum (WEF), the ones pushing “The Great Reset,” driving a takeover of agriculture whilst forcing the implementation of socialist government policy around the world.

The page comes right out of Joseph Stalin’s handbook, “Whoever controls the food controls the people.” The UN and the WEF also have the wherewithal to control energy too through climate alarmism. Frighten the people enough and they will let you do anything.

The nation’s most impressive governor, Florida’s Ron DeSantis, took official action to eliminate ESG controls from the state’s pension investments, a major statement. Where is Gov. Kemp?

The outlook for groceries in the future is not good

Bill Gates is a founding member of WEF. Gates wants us to eat synthetic meats and insects.

One of Gates’ powerful WEF colleagues French President Emmanuel Macron warned his constituents to be ready for “sacrifices” as the country is facing “the end of abundance.”

Macron is following WEF directives but blames climate change and the pandemic for government financial and policy blunders, including food shortages. (Perhaps local Fayette County governments should use “climate change” as their excuse for record tax increases, seems a popular thing to do.)

The Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte, is the climate alarmist darling of the WEF. Rutte has taken action to begin eliminating cattle and dairy cow farms to supposedly correct climate change. Those farms have been in control of various Dutch families for hundreds of years. The Netherlands is the second largest food exporter in the world.

Rutte also began heavily restricting nitrogen fertilizer use which will reduce crop yields. Rutte’s WEF colleague, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, also heavily restricts nitrogen fertilizer usage with farmers complaining of reduced output and possibly bankruptcy. Farmers all over Europe are protesting in the streets after witnessing what the WEF has planned.

Socialist Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa boldly announced at the UN COP26 climate summit in 2021 that his government was leading the way by banning chemical fertilizers and pesticides, promising a sustainable future.

Rajapaksa’s WEF-supported policies produced catastrophic food shortages, widespread hunger, and eventually a revolution that ousted Rajapaksa and his government.

Biden’s new Inflation Reduction Act (the one that does not reduce inflation) gives the Environmental Protection Agency ESG powers to hamper businesses and agriculture to cut greenhouse gas emissions. Eventually, you will be told what you can eat by the government, pointing to plant-based foods, not meats.

More Ukraine pain

President Biden committed yet another $2.9 billion to Ukraine. U.S. arms manufacturers are overjoyed. Rest assured, by the end of the Ukraine conflict no one will be able to account for the tens of billions of U.S. tax dollars sent to Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Ukraine is constantly cited as one of the most corrupt nations in the world. Biden’s son Hunter Biden, the cocaine and prostitute addict, landed an extremely well-paying board of directors’ position with Ukrainian energy company Burisma. Then-Vice President Biden threatened to withhold $1 billion in aid if Ukraine continued to prosecute the oligarch owner of Burisma.

States fight back

On the national education scene, the Springfield, Missouri public school district recently held a training program forcing teachers to identify their racial and sexual “privilege,” promoting identities such as “pansexual” and “polyamorous,” and warning that “misgendering a trans person is an act of violence.”

Florida, Texas, Arkansas, and others are pushing back to prevent their schools from manipulating students with gender dysphoria in secret without parental consent.

Federal faux pas

Award-winning reporter John Solomon has received documents from an inside source that show the Biden White House was, in fact, involved in the FBI’s raid on former President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate. This is alarming because it reeks of political intimidation of Biden’s potential opponent in the 2024 election, resembling the tactics of tinpot dictators.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) finally admitted they botched the nation’s pandemic response and Director Rochelle Walensky announced a reorganization of the agency. Perhaps the agency should stop promoting social justice topics and transgenderism and pay attention to surveillance and prevention of disease.

Not following the narrative

Apparently, the Atlanta Police Department identified the white supremacist suspect who allegedly spay-painted swastikas on the LGBTQ crosswalks, a 30-year-old Black man named Jonah Sampson.

More city council controversy

In beautiful Peachtree City, we have suffered through the city council wanting to build thousands of multi-family residential units (LCI Plan) only to be entirely spurned by the citizens.

Next, there were official actions taken and funding appropriated without a public vote of the city council. Councilman Frank Destadio gets credit for outing the backdoor voting and demanding that it change (see: https://thecitizen.com/2022/08/15/council-decision-making-should-be-done-as-meeting-agenda-items-councilman-destadio-says/). Has anything changed? Silence?

After being spanked by a large number of taxpaying citizens on the massive proposed multi-family residential units no one wanted, the city council recently snuck in zoning language to build more multi-family residential projects (LCI 2.0) through the city’s comprehensive land plan review. Unfortunately, the citizens are the victims of this loss of integrity avalanche by the city council.

Currently, Mayor Kim Learnard was saddled with an ethics complaint. Learnard and the city government refused to allow the public to view the complaint documents. The city informed The Citizen that no one will even know what the complaint is until after the complaint is adjudicated.

The complaint against the Learnard will be reviewed by one of five attorneys who live and have offices outside of a 10-mile radius of Peachtree City. Hopefully, none of them will be real estate attorneys representing developers wanting to build apartment complexes (a city council favorite).

The attorney selected will review the complaint and response and decide whether to throw it out for lack of “clear and convincing evidence” of a violation or to move to further investigations that could result in a dismissal. I can promise you that none of this will be performed in a public meeting.

  1. Always enjoy hearing Steve’s warped take on Tucker Carlson’s warped take on the world. I’m still confused as to why Russia is being defended which flies in the face of Steve’s usual red-scaring, but I suppose those are the mental gymnastics required to tow the dear leader’s line. At least Trump and Tucker do it for money though, one can understand that, however despicable. This is just silly. Entertaining though.

  2. In case your cable TV went out last night, Steve Brown has summarized all the stories on Fox News, complete with hyper-partisan spin. So if you want to know one half of the story on anything, check with Steve.

Since he seems incapable of being even-handed on national stories, it makes me very suspicious of his commentary on local ones. There is a very good reason that he lost his re-election bid for mayor.

      • I’ll take a stab at this (winger); he won his gubernatorial race by a very slim margin (0.4%) and yet governs as if he had an overwhelming mandate. But this aside, he doesn’t really believe in gun safety, opposes the Affordable Care Act, carries a “0” rating from the Human Rights Campaign, is in favor of voter suppression, and does not believe in a woman’s right to choose. With a disdain for possible ESG standards, he signals he doesn’t really care about climate change, human rights, or racial injustice. All this (and more) and Steve Brown pens him as “the nation’s most impressive governor” … ?

  3. I’m so glad they caught the person responsible for spray-painting hateful graffiti on the 10th and Piedmont rainbow crosswalks. Just so you’re aware, Steve, the video of the person committing the crime has been circulating since it occurred. I don’t think anyone that’s seen it would think that Mr. Sampson was a white supremacist. But that doesn’t fit your narrative, does it?

  4. Steve – I appreciate the news and insight and also your tone in writing these letters. It’s not quite “Paul Harvey News & Comment”…..but you stick to the facts and add only a few of your musings. Well done sir. Good day.

    • How does Steve stick to the facts? What he says may be factual, I will never know. For example, “BlackRock, Vanguard, … They are extremely friendly with the Chinese Communist Party and fund significant holdings connected to the party.” They do? Which holdings? How much? What are your sources Steve? Here’s another, “Ukraine is constantly cited as one of the most corrupt nations in the world.” Maybe it’s true, where is it constantly cited? What is the criteria? Steve, like so many others, spouts “facts” without any backing and those that agree with him, just accept them as so. Did you know that the University of California, Santa Barbara is the #1 school in the nation? let me cite my source, Niche.com, ranking of top party schools in the US. The perspective changes when one cites their sources.
