Judith Stanley Bearden passed away on Feb. 29, 2012 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was 63 years old and predeceased by her father Herman S. Stanley and her mother Evelyn Ellzey “Donnie” Stanley.

Judi was born in Hot Springs, Ark. and lived her childhood in East Point, Ga. She graduated from Headland High School in 1966 and attended Stephens College in Columbia, Mo. where she studied fashion design and was the president of her sorority (Kappa Delta). In 1970, Judi graduated from the University of Georgia where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.

Judi was married to her high school sweetheart Richard for 43 years. She taught at the Atlanta Area Technical College while her husband served with the Marines in Vietnam. In 1973 Judi, Richard and their son Stan moved to Peachtree City, Ga. At that time the city was in its infancy with barely 2000 residents. The new city presented many business opportunities and it was Judi’s keen intuition that recognized which opportunities to seize and when to seize them; she was always an integral business partner.

Judi is survived by her husband and son, her brother Ken Stanley of Valdosta, daughter in law Amy Wilder Bearden, granddaughter Chloe Wilder Bearden, mother-in-law Victoria Bearden of Newnan, Ga.; stepsister Alice Virginia Daniel, stepbrother Danny Daniel, five sister -in -laws and two brother- in- laws, four nieces and seven nephews. The family would also like to recognize Judi’s longtime friend and confidant, Mary Tolbert. After more than 35 years of friendship, Mary held a special place in Judi’s heart until the very end.

A celebration of her life was held on Sunday, March 4, 2012 at 2 p.m. at St. Andrews in the Pines Episcopal Church, Peachtree City, Ga. Interment followed in the church’s “Garden of Remembrance.” The family received friends on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at St. Andrews in the Pines between 5-7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Judi’s memory to the Garden of Remembrance at St. Andrews in the Pines Episcopal Church, 316 North Peachtree Pkwy., Peachtree City, Ga. 30269.
