Both sustained non-life-threatening injuries, GBI says —
UPDATED 5:10 P.M., JULY 24 — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has released information on the officer-involved shooting that occurred Sunday morning at the Shiloh Mobile Home Ranch off Ga. Highway 54 near Peachtree City.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office asked the GBI to conduct an independent investigation on July 24. Antonio Murgado, age 19, of Griffin, and a United States Marshals Task Force Officer — a Coweta County deputy assigned to the task force — were shot during this incident, GBI said in a press release.
“Preliminary information indicates that at 9:18 a.m., the United States Marshals Service and Fayette County Sheriff’s Office executed an arrest warrant for Murgado at 429 Sage Brush Trail (in the mobile home park),” according to the press release. “Murgado was wanted for a death related to an investigation in Pike County. When officers entered the home, Murgado fired a gun and hit a Task Force Officer one time. Officers returned gunfire at Murgado, hitting him multiple times.”
GBI said the Task Force Officer and Murgado were treated at the scene and taken to Grady Hospital in Atlanta with non-life-threatening injuries.
The GBI investigation is active and ongoing. Once the investigation is completed, the case file will be given to the Griffin Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for review.

Murgado is obviously from another culture that is not a part of normal society…probably nearly illiterate, there appears to be NOTHING but evil behind those dead eyes, maybe an illegal immigrant, part of the drug culture and an example of what our leaders in DC think is not a problem to address.
It is almost too late for the USA because they are here in the millions.
Fayette Co. has a hard road ahead.
Thank you to all law enforcement and let’s get more cops on the treet.
vics1966–
I wonder how old Antonio Murgado was when he first became aware how he was perceived by people like you. Assumptions that he was “nearly illiterate”, “illegal”, “part of the drug culture”…obviously not a part of normal society. In short, “NOTHING but evil”.
What I see when I look at Murgado’s photograph is a 19 year old chid of God who never had much of a chance. That any opportunities for him were few; and hope was hard to hold onto.
For everyone involved, this was a terrible tragedy. Including Antonio.
Barry can’t move into your house and get the compassion hey so richly deserves and needs
Meant to say “too bad he can’t…”
No problem, Hometown–I figured out what you were saying. I get it a lot!
Murgado should not have been out on bond. The Pike county murder was committed while he was out on bond for armed robbery in Clayton County, and dealing meth in Spalding County. And to my understanding the Pike County murder was over drugs. Clearly, some people need to be held without bail and he is one of them if he did an armed robbery, sold drugs, and now might have shot a person to death in Pike County, and a law enforcement officer. I guess I must say “allegedly” since he has not been convicted of these crimes yet but my advice to the public would be to stay away from him and his friends if they get to remain on the streets. The judge who let him out on bail in Clayton County for armed robbery is one of the kinds of judges I would like to see fired by the voters if he was elected. Violent people should be in jail awaiting trial for the safety of the public. At least monitor them closely if you are going to let them out.
