Girl shoots man from front porch as Fayette deputy walks up driveway to Whitewater Creek subdivision home, then is herself wounded by deputy returning fire, GBI says —

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating a May 25 officer involved shooting in Fayette County in which a 13-year-old girl was shot by a deputy after she opened fire on a man on the front porch of the residence. Neither party suffered life-threatening injuries.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office requested the GBI to conduct an independent investigation on Wednesday, May 25. One minor female was shot. No officers were injured, according to GBI.

Preliminary information indicates that at 8:44 p.m., Vincent Emanuel Frasca, age 38, of Marietta, called the watchdesk of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office requesting law enforcement assistance with a custody exchange dispute involving a [CORRECTION] 3-year-old at 135 Carnoustie Way, GBI said.

Carnoustie Way is located in the Whitewater Creek subdivision on Redwine Road.

“At 8:52 p.m., a Fayette County deputy arrived at the entrance to the gated community where he met with Frasca. After speaking with Frasca, the deputy followed Frasca to the home. Frasca parked in the driveway in front of the home and walked to the bottom of the front porch steps where he stood.

“As the deputy was walking up the driveway toward Frasca, the minor female (age 13), came out of the home onto the front porch with a handgun and began shooting multiple times toward Frasca, hitting Frasca. The deputy returned fire multiple times, hitting the minor female,” the GBI press release said.

The minor was taken by EMS to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta–Egleston Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Frasca was taken by EMS to Grady Hospital and is in stable condition, according to GBI.

The GBI will conduct an independent investigation. Once the investigation is completed, the case file will be turned over to the Griffin Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s office for review.

[CORRECTION to age of child involved in the custody exchange dispute. The correct age is 3.]

  1. could have been?!?!? A child tried to kill her dad and a deputy had to do the hardest thing he’ll probably ever do in life, turn his gun on a child. Awesome job FCSO! this deputy exhibited excellent judgement in shooting to disable the threat, but nothing past that. The deputy is a true hero and life will go on for all involved thanks to his/her actions. Prayers for you Deputy! Thank you!

Sheriff Babb you have always kept this office above and beyond the bar. Prayers for you and everyone involved.
