Newnan, GA (October 8, 2026) – Trevin “Tre” Law, CAWA was recently selected to serve as Coweta County’s new Animal Services Director. In this role, he will oversee the newly formed standalone department. Tre brings extensive management experience in municipal animal services operations and nonprofit organizations.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve Coweta County and lead its Animal Services team” shares Tre. “Animal Services plays an important role in both public safety and community wellbeing. The strongest agencies do more than respond to calls or operate a shelter. They serve as a trusted resource for the community by connecting residents with support, promoting responsible pet ownership, preventing problems before they become emergencies, enforcing laws fairly consistently, and helping families keep their pets whenever it can be done safely and responsibly. My goal is to build on the work already underway, support and invest in our employees, strengthen relationships with residents and community partners, and ensure we continue providing responsive, compassionate, professional and accountable services.”

Tre began his career as a senior investigator in the Division of Animal Services at the D.C. Department of Health. He went on to work in both the public and nonprofit sectors for organizations including the Humane Rescue Alliance (St .Hubert’s) in New Jersey, LifeLine Animal Project in Atlanta, Companions & Animals for Reform and Equity (CARE), and, most recently, Fulton County Government, where he served as the Animal Services Coordinator. He holds a vocational degree in criminal justice and homeland security from Dorchester Career & Technical Center, is a Certified Animal Welfare Administrator (CAWA) and has completed numerous animal welfare certifications and programs. He has previously served on the Board of Directors for the National Animal Care & Control Association and is currently a member of that organization, along with the Association for Animal Welfare Advancement (AAWA).

Throughout his career, Tre has helped decrease intake, increase adoptions, reduce operating costs and secure grants to support municipal and non-profit animal welfare operations. He is passionate about operational excellence, compassionate animal care, regulatory compliance, fiscal responsibility and customer-focused public service.

“We are fortunate to have Tre join our team to help lead our transition of Animal Services,” said Administrator Michael Fouts. “His extensive experience will be a tremendous asset as we strengthen the resources and services we provide to our community. We are grateful for the leadership and dedication of the former wardens and their team, and we look forward to building on that foundation as Animal Services begins its new chapter.”

Earlier this year, the Coweta County Board of Commissioners voted to separate Animal Services from the Coweta County Prison and establish it as a standalone department. The current animal shelter is located at 91 Selt Road in Newnan; however, the County will soon break ground on a new Animal Adoption Center in early 2027. The new facility will be located on Newnan Crossing Bypass and will include a 30-acre passive park, while the former shelter will serve as an intake facility. The new building will be funded using 2025 SPLOST funds.
