At its annual awards dinner hosted by American Legion Post 50, it was announced that this year’s winner of the 2026 Patriotic Art Contest is Delilah Godwin, a student at The Foundry Academy.

This contest is a part of Post 50’s celebration of Armed Forces Day, the post’s annual running (or walking) of the All American 5K/10K road race and the celebration of the United States’ 250 Birthday.

The Patriotic Art Contest was open to all high school students, grades 9 – 12 within the Peachtree City, Tyrone and Senoia areas. As a result of support from art teachers Christi McCully (The Foundry Academy), Todd Little (Starr’s Mill High School) and Evenie Bour (Sandy Creek High School) – who encouraged participation by their students, 14 works of art were submitted into the competition.  Over a three-month period, the entries were viewed and voted upon by the members of Post 50, the Peachtree City Running Club (a co-presenter of the All American 5k/10k race), students and the public.

Upon completion of the voting, the top four finalists, Delilah Godwin and Bix Taylor from the Foundry Academy; Linda Yang from Starr’s Mill High School, and Emily Dykes from Sandy Creek High School, along with their parents and respective art teachers were invited to Post 50’s awards dinner.  In succession each of their respective art works were revealed to the audience.  Each contestant received a monetary award and a Legion certificate of achievement recognizing their participation and contribution to the contest.  Delilah Godwin, as the first-place winner, received an extra award:  her artwork will be the featured artwork printed on this year’s All American 5K/10K race t-shirt – making it a one-of-a-kind collectible.

The 2026 All American 5K/10K will take place on Saturday, May 16, at the Fred Brown Amphitheater.  Race time is 8:00am.  To obtain an All American 5K/10K race t-shirt with Delilah’s artwork one only needs to go the Peachtree City Running Club web site at http://www.ptcrc.org or to http://www.active.com to register as either a race participant or sign up as a “Phantom” runner where you only have to register to get a t-shirt.  Please direct any questions to email:  [email protected]
