The Wildcats clawed out a piece of history. With a thrilling 36-34 victory over Rising Starr, Whitewater Middle won the first girls county basketball championship in school history.

“I’m incredibly proud of this group,” said head coach Alex Mull. “They worked hard all season long while being held to high expectations. They stayed composed, trusted each other, and kept competing when things weren’t going their way.”

The Wildcats finish the season with an 8-2 record with both losses coming against Rising Starr in the regular season.

“Rising Starr was well-prepared, and they played a great game. We focused on defense, effort, and taking it one possession at a time. That resilience and belief in one another and sticking together made the difference,” said Mull. “This championship is a credit to, first and foremost, every player on the team, their parents, coaches, teachers, administration, and everyone who supports this girls program.”

The champion Wildcats are Taylar Barreau, Brooklyn Boone, Issy Chance, Lailah Crawford, Sayda Eldawi, Alex Fasci, Robyn George, Hannah Hegvedt, Jordyn Johnson, Cara Lee Saint Luc, Annabelle Smith, and Kendell Westlund.

They are coached by Alex Mull and Lonnie Boone.
