   Stranger Than Fiction – I did just read Ms Char’s Letter To The Editor above, as you suggested in the erroneously titled “Breaking News” story on this topic (“What happens if Peachtree City Council fails to pass a budget?”, Ellie White-Stevens, 9/9/2025).

   And no, that is actually editor White-Stevens’s commentary and views, not straight news reporting. Any facts that appeared in her opinion piece seem accidental to the “hijacked” theme.

   It’s noteworthy that Ms White-Stevens allowed the Mayor and city staff to whine about having to do more work on the faulty assumption that using some of the reserve fund means budget cuts. They clearly don’t have a handle on the situation, a problem Ms Char also has.

   Ms White-Stevens also did not interview Mr Holland as to why he raised the question about the “just in case” fund, and why now. Back when journalists worked for news organizations, that would be a critical part of the story. I’d like to know.

   Even more telling is how the “hijacked” theme is played out repeatedly in both editorials. It’s almost as if they coordinated their protest . . .

   Ms Char is also incorrect that reducing the millage rate by using some of the massive cash reserve only benefits businesses. Businesses and residents all have contributed more than we needed to pay in order for the City Manager to have a boatload of our tax dollars sitting around in the city’s bank account. A millage reduction would help every taxpayer.

   Fiscal irresponsibility, in my opinion, is taking PTC’s “just in case” fund to excessive levels. I have detailed my reasons in the Comments section numerous times, and no one has answered the questions or refuted the facts, especially Kenneth Hamner in his attempt to play defense on behalf of PTC.    Let’s also keep in mind that our mayor, I mean, our Honorable Mayor, signed on to a national issue political gun control letter without working with her colleagues on Council or giving advance notice to them. Getting too wrapped around the axle about the reserve question while giving the mayor a pass looks hypocritical.

   If Ms Char’s view is that Mr Holland and Ms Brown should have “gone along to get along” on the excessive reserve, I can see why she was so troubled by seeing a political process in action. I hope she’s ok.
