At just 23 years old, Zach Livsey is already making his mark on local democracy. A 2020 Starrโ€™s Mill High School graduate and current University of Georgia student, Livesy stepped into his new role as Chairman of the Fayette County Board of Elections on June 1.

His path to leadership began with an application to fill the seat of his longtime mentor, Darryl Hicks, who served on the Board for more than a decade. After a rigorous selection process through the Fayette County Democratic Party, Livesy was sworn in by the countyโ€™s probate judgeโ€”marking the start of what he hopes will be a lifelong journey of public service.

Previously Vice Chair for 18 months, Livesy brings to the role a deep-rooted commitment to civic engagement and a strong foundation in legislative policy, shaped by his hands-on experience at the Georgia State Capitol.

โ€œItโ€™s an honor to serve as Chairman of the Fayette County Board of Elections,โ€ he says. โ€œSince stepping into this role on June 1โ€”after 18 months as Vice Chairโ€”Iโ€™ve worked closely with our outstanding elections staff, whose professionalism and year-round dedication make free and fair elections possible in Fayette County.โ€

Livsey is currently pursuing future plans in legal studies, with a focus on voting rights and elder law. His passion for transparency, access, and integrity in elections reflects his dedication to building a trustworthy system for every voter in Fayette County.
