The Huddleston Elementary Modern Band brought their music to life with the help of Rising Starr Middle’s Hall Pass Entertainment, recording three of their favorite songs.
Huddleston music teacher Jonathan Burns and Rising Starr music technology teacher Ashleigh McDaniel Spatz work together throughout the year, and the recording collaboration is a great way to help the young musicians see their hard work pay off.
The HES Modern Band learns and performs cover songs of popular music throughout the school year. They picked three of their favorites and took to the recording studio at Rising Starr to lay down tracks. They also had a Hall Pass Entertainment club member who is a HES alum play drums for the session.
McDaniel Spatz edited the recordings so the students could celebrate and commemorate their accomplishments. Through the process, the Hounds also learn about music technology and modern band at the middle school-level.
“This is a very student-led process where students get to choose their favorite songs and which instruments they would like to play,” she said.
