Fairburn couple Santana Reynolds and Dehzhon Hall, both 33, were arrested in Coweta County on multiple charges after authorities discovered three young children left unattended in a hot vehicle in the Publix parking lot on Glenda Trace.

Deputy Lamb of the Coweta County Sheriff’s Department responded to an anonymous tip about unattended children in a black 2007 Mazda. The deputy said he ran the car’s plate and determined that the vehicle’s registered owner, Reynolds, had a suspended license due to prior failure to appear in court

Deputy Lamb located three children-ages 7, 6, and 9 months- inside the running vehicle.  He reported that the car was “humid and hot” and the vehicle “was engaged and on but the air did not seem to be working”. Lamb also said he detected a strong odor of marijuana and found  marijuana residue along with loose leaf tobacco in the back seat.

While investigating, Hall approached the vehicle. The police said when he was asked to provide his name and date of birth he refused to comply, claiming he did nothing wrong.

“I asked him several more times for his information and told him that failure to do so would get him arrested,” said Lamb. “He again denied”.

Police said Hall then fled on foot when Lamb attempted to detain him, eventually locking himself in the Tomo Sushi Restaurant bathroom. He was found and arrested after continuing to refuse verbal commands from law enforcement.

Meanwhile, the officers reported that Reynolds had left the immediate area, but was located in the back of the parking lot and taken into custody.

According to the police report, the three children were released to their grandmother after Reynolds and Hall were transported to the Coweta County Jail. Both face charges including reckless conduct, obstruction of law enforcement, and possession of marijuana. Reynolds was additionally charged with driving on a suspended license. The report also states that Hall was also found to be wanted out of several jurisdictions for other crimes.
