A three-year-old child is on life support after a drowning incident in a private pool in the Smokerise subdivision in Peachtree City on Tuesday, May 27.

Police responded to a “trouble unknown” call, which indicates that the police knew limited information about the situation prior to their arrival. Upon reaching the scene, officers encountered what Sergeant Donte Philips described as a “very chaotic” scene with “a lot of activity in the background”.

Officers found the child’s mother giving the child CPR when they arrived, which they immediately took over along with other life-saving measures until medics arrived. The patient was then transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where they remain on life support.

Sergeant Philips urges families with young kids and pools to take proactive steps in water safety, encouraging them to contact the Department of Family and Children Services for resources and classes.

The family is holding a rosary vigil at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 28 at 7:00 p.m.
