Harts of Teal, a non-profit organization dedicated to fundraising and spreading awareness of gynecological cancers, especially ovarian cancer, welcomes community members to participate in its fifth annual Color Run on Saturday, June 7, 2025.
The run will take place at One Church, 2130 Redwine Road, and will kick off with a one mile run at 9 a.m., followed by a 5K at 9:30 a.m. Participants of all ages are invited to participate and join the cause.
Founded by Kim Airhart, Harts of Teal aims to support those affected by gynecological cancers through support and community involvement. For Airhart, the fundraiser is an important celebration in reminding those fighting ovarian and other gynecological cancers that they are not alone.
“I feel like this event in particular brings everybody together,” said Airhart. “There’s lots of smiles and it just feels good. It’s heartwarming and gives hope to those affected.”
As the organization’s largest fundraising event of the year, the Color Run plays an essential role in supporting Hart of Teal’s mission. The nonprofit collaborates with local organizations. This year’s presenting sponsor is City of Hope. Harts of Teal is also grateful for Northside Hospital, Piedmont Fayette, Strack Inc., Bragassa Orthodontics, Hart’s Septic Services, and Dr. John Vickery with the Center for Allergy and Asthma of Georgia for being top sponsors of the event.
This year, Harts of Teal has set a goal to raise more than 100,000 dollars with the event. Those unable to attend in person can still make a difference by signing up as virtual runners or donating at the Harts of Teal website. Even acts such as spreading awareness about the event through social media or word of mouth can help amplify awareness. Common symptoms of ovarian cancer to look out for are pelvic or abdominal pain and feeling full quickly after a meal.
