Jean Redwine Allen, 92, of Fayetteville, Georgia departed this Earth on February 6, 2025, and retired to the mansions of rest.  Jean Allen met her Creator clothed in the love and prayers of her family, friends, and former students.

Mrs. Allen was born on April 23, 1932, in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Reuben Clyde Redwine and Mary Bell McBride Redwine.  She grew up in Jacksonville, Florida and Spartanburg, South Carolina. She attended Spartanburg Junior College and Columbia College in Columbia, South Carolina where she received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.  She completed her master’s degree in Elementary Education at Georgia State University and her Specialist Degree in Administration from the University of West Georgia.

Jean taught elementary school for three years while her future husband, Jimmie Allen, finished his education degree at the University of South Carolina.   Jean and Jimmie married in 1956 at First United Methodist Church in Spartanburg.   Jean taught sixth grade and Jimmy coached basketball and baseball. They eventually moved from South Carolina and permanently relocated to Fayette County, Georgia, where Jean’s parents were raised.  They were blessed with three sons who all grew up in Fayette County and shared their parents’ love of sports, especially football.

Jean retired as the principal of Fayette County Elementary School in 1989 to pursue her passion for beach living,  to briefly partner in an emu ranch start-up, and to continue her role as a fiercely devoted superfan of her children and grandchildren.  Jean’s family fondly remember her warm hugs, wonderful sense of humor, unconditional kindness, limitless compassion, unstinting generosity, and terrible driving.

Jean was a force at Indian Springs Holiness Campgrounds, where she hosted her immediate and extended family for ten sweltering days every summer with beloved friends and family in worship of her Lord.  Jean was a very senior citizen and member at Inman United Methodist Church.    Fellow churchgoers and family marveled at her unique vocal stylings on The Doxology.

Jean is survived by her sons, Jeff Allen and Jerry Allen, and her daughters-in-law, Heather McKeag Allen and Emilie Corbin Allen.  Jean’s joy and delight in her later years were her granddaughters, Courtney Jane Allen Woodall and Hannah Caroline Allen, her grandsons, Lucas Hunter Allen and Jimmie Colton Allen, and her great-granddaughter Caysen Jean Woodall, who brought special delight to Jean’s final chapter. Jean is also survived by her beloved sister-in-law, Jane Bennett Redwine, her grandson-in-law, Colby Woodall, and her nieces and nephews, Julie, Josie, Jon, Lisa, Natalie, Tom, Heather Jean, Tim, and Kimberly.

Jean was predeceased by her parents, her son, Jody Allen, her younger siblings Charles Jackson Redwine and Mary Joyce Redwine Hayes, and her brother-in-law Nath Thompson Hayes, all who eagerly await her infectious laugh and joyful presence in Heaven.

Jean’s family ask all who knew and loved her to rejoice and reflect on her spirit, humility, and devout Christian faith, and preserve these values so they may burn brightly beyond her short time on this Earth.

A celebration of Jean’s life will be held at Friday, February 14, 2025, at 5:00 PM  in Inman United Methodist Church.  The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM in the fellowship hall at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Inman United Methodist Church, or Indian Springs Holiness Campground.

We welcome you to leave your condolences, thoughts, and memories of Jean on our Tribute Wall.
