The Peachtree City Police Department displayed this week on social media some of its recent confiscations from a significant drug arrest late last month.

It was a March 21 afternoon traffic stop on a pickup truck simply for a seat belt violation. The truck was spotted on Hwy. 74 near Paschall Road and finally pulled over on Huddleston Road near Paschall Road.

There was a single female occupant in the vehicle. While speaking with the driver, the officer noticed signs of possible narcotics activity and put K9 Drako to work around the vehicle for a free-air search. The dog indicated that there were indeed narcotics present, and the subsequent search revealed what a PCPD spokesman called “trafficking amounts of methamphetamine.”

More than four ounces of the drug, packaged for sale and distribution, were found in the truck.

Jessica Elliott, 36, of Newnan was arrested on numerous charges that include a felony count of trafficking in illegal drugs. Other charges on the Fayette County Jail log were two seat belt violations and one count each of failure to maintain lane, possession/use of drug-related objects and marijuana possession.

Drug-related objects confiscated during this arrest included multiple glass pipes and needles, the PCPD spokesman noted.

Photos of the illegal drugs were posted this week on the department’s Facebook page along with this message to the public:

“If you notice the absence of a local entrepreneur specializing in illicit pharmaceuticals. You might think their absence is Methed up; K9 DraKo and his partner may have had something to do with a supply chain interruption. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.”

The message was followed by hashtags #sorrynotsorry and#notinptc.

The social media post included a photo of a gun, but that was from a different case unrelated to the drug arrest.
