Assorted traffic stops in Fayette County during the past week for routine violations led to a trio felony drug arrests, apprehension of a man wanted elsewhere and one guy who just hasn’t bothered to get a driver’s license.

A spokesman for the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office stated that a car seen on the road without a license plate led deputies to execute a late-evening traffic stop March 23 near Creekwood Trail. The investigation revealed that the driver had a suspended license and an amount of unlabeled prescription medications in his possession.

Shunntavis Gaynor, 24, of Temple was arrested on a felony drug charge as well as driving with a suspended license, according to the Fayette County Jail log.

Elsewhere, a vehicle was marked by officers the afternoon of March 25 for having suspended registration and pulled over. Deputies discovered that the driver had enough methamphetamine and Ecstasy in his possession to warrant trafficking charges, an FCSO spokesman noted, and he tried to conceal it from deputies.

Deriko Hill, 43, of Hampton faces felony charges of trafficking in illegal drugs and tampering with evidence, according to the jail log. Other charges include possession/use of drug-related objects, marijuana possession, and license plate violations.

A March 25 traffic stop took place at Hwy. 74 and Rockaway Road due to traffic offenses. The subsequent investigation revealed that a back seat passenger in the car had felony warrants out of Spalding County. He and the driver were in possession of methamphetamine and drug-related objects.

Kristie Thaxton, 44, of Griffin was charged with a felony drug count as well as marijuana possession and four traffic violations.

Michael Kell, 44, of Griffin faces a misdemeanor drug charge in Peachtree City along with the outstanding warrants.

Police on patrol March 25 spotted a fake Georgia temporary operating permit on a gray Chevy Sonic on Hwy. 54 near Northlake Drive. The driver was found to have lived in Georgia for more than a year and a half without obtaining a driver’s license.

Elkin Chaves Hernandez, 27, of Senoia was arrested for driving without a license, using a license plate with intent to conceal, and failure to register a vehicle.
