The team of Rodgers and Hammerstein created some of the world’s most beloved musicals. This summer, Southside Theatre Guild in Fairburn, will bring their production of “Cinderella” to the stage. While the show is obviously a big hit for all ages, this production will only feature performers ages 18 and over, due to the complexity of the music which is composed for mature voices.
“Cinderella” tells the classic fairy tale of a young woman who is forced to cook and clean for her stepmother and stepsisters and skip the prince’s ball. With the help of a fairy godmother, Cinderella makes it to the grand event and falls in love with the prince. Adding some fun new wrinkles to the story are a giant, a fire-breathing dragon, and more.
Auditions will consist of cold readings of the script and songs for the character (s) you are trying out for. There are several main roles for men and women, as well as a need for a sizable ensemble and some people with stilt walking and puppeteer skills. Character descriptions can be found on stgplays.com/auditions. The auditions will take place at the theater at 7 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, April 1 and 2. Performances are scheduled for Thursdays through Sundays, July 18-28.
