Two men are in jail in Fayette and Clayton counties in connection with a number of robberies in the region.

Eric Cousin, 19, of Jonesboro is at the Fayette County Jail where he faces armed robbery and aggravated assault charges. Reko Shepard, 18, of Jonesboro is in the Clayton County Jail and has warrants from Fayette County that include armed robbery charges. Both suspects were found in their homes in the early morning hours of Feb. 2, according to a statement from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

These two have been linked to at least seven robberies in the two counties, according to officials. One of those incidents took place Jan. 4 at a Quik Trip on Hwy. 85.

On that day, deputies responded to a welfare check at the score and learned that the clerk had been robbed at gunpoint by someone who took a small amount of money from the cash register. Further investigation uncovered a pattern of criminal activity that involved two men conducting armed robberies targeting various convenience stores and gas stations, officials said.

“Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and collaborating agencies are confident in the strength of the evidence collected and are committed to ensuring a thorough and fair prosecution,” according to the FCSO statement.

Anyone with information about these robberies are asked to contact Detective Zaj at 770-716-4828 or kzaj@fayettecountyga.gov.
