I’m writing to express my concern that the current City Council is specifically working behind closed doors to ensure that citizens are not actually allowed to engage in their proposed short-term rental workshops.
The council proposed this “citizen workshop” in order to gather inputs from citizen on reasonable regulations for short term rentals. The workshop was originally set for 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 6, a time most can attend.
Now, without any citizen consultation, the council has voted to move the time of the workshop to 3 p.m., Thursday, June 8, a time that unfairly targets all citizens with a full-time job. It seems that this new time is being strategically chosen to ensure limited citizen and operator participation in the workshop, effectively limiting our ability to engage.
Should citizens really be obligated to take a vacation day off work in order to engage our local government?
