Booth students excel at InVenture

J.C. Booth Middle’s Lara Otico was a big winner at the state finals for the InVenture K-12 Challenge.

Otico placed 1st overall in the middle school division, and she also won a special award called the Manufacturing Award for her invention called The Plapper. The Plapper is a technique she developed that uses kudzu and other invasive plants to make paper.

Otico earned a complementary patent search from the Georgia Intellectual Property Alliance and a trip to the US Nationals 2023 Invention Convention Worldwide at the Henry Ford Museum in Michigan this June.

Fellow students Abhayjit Saravanan and Avaneesh Anand also competed in the state finals.
