April is National Poetry Month

Month of April 2023

To celebrate National Poetry Month, the Peachtree City Library and posted copies of poems throughout the library. Find a poem somewhere in the library, bring it to the Circulation Desk, read it to the librarian, and get a prize. Take the poem home and share with someone along the way.

 

 

Bookmark Design Contest
April 1st—22nd, 2023
Everyone’s invited! Celebrate National Library Week with Peachtree City Library’s Bookmark Design Contest. Pick up a form online, at the Circulation desk, or print one from the link below and return by April 22, 2023. Voting runs April 24th—29th, 2023. Winners in each category, elementary, middle, high school, adult (18+), will be announced and showcased on the Peachtree City Library Facebook page on May 2nd, 2023. One entry per person.

Vegetable Gardens

Growing your own food can be a rewarding experience but there are a few steps to consider before putting your plants in the ground. Hosted by the UGA Extension of Fayette County, come learn about how to get started in the vegetable garden, varieties to consider, and environmental conditions needed to increase your garden success.

Learn Korean

Tuesdays starting April 4th, 2023, 6:00pm —Storytime Room

What is K-culture? It’s a term used to describe the phenomenal growth of Korean entertainment, food, music, movies, beauty, and fashion products that have become popular worldwide. Come learn the basics of the Korean language and enjoy this popular cultural trend. Hosted by Sunny V., this event is free and open to the public. No previous experience or registration required.

 

 

Conversational Spanish

Thursdays starting April 6th, 2023, 6:00pm —Theater Room

Join the Peachtree City Library staff for conversational Spanish. Are you already learning Spanish? Come have a chat and practice your conversational skills. For ages 14+ and all skill levels. No previous experience necessary. This is a drop-in event, no registration required.

 

Adult Pick-Up Craft Week: Rolled Magazine Frame

Financial Aid and Your Wallet

Financial aid can be the difference between attending the college of your dreams or settling for less. But the financial aid process can be confusing and overwhelming for parents and students alike. This workshop will provide expert guidance on the financial aid process, requirements, and purpose. Parents will learn what to expect and how to approach the maze of financial aid confidently. And students will gain a better understanding of how financial aid can impact their college choices. This is a free drop-in event. One lucky attendee will win a FREE copy of Mark’s new book, HELP! My Teen Isn’t On Track To College.

Jigsaw Puzzle Swap

The Peachtree City Library is hosting a family friendly puzzle swap. Bring your favorite jigsaw puzzle to swap and meet-up. Work on a puzzle together or alone. All ages welcome, but children must be accompanied by an adult. This is a free, drop-in event, no registration required.

Celebrate Money Smart Week April 15th-21st, 2023! This week-long, free, virtual campaign, Get Smart About Your Money, aims to help people better manage their personal finances with a focus on tools for low- and moderate-income communities. Join Peachtree City Library for in-person viewing of these free, virtual programs. Free financial resources will also be available to take home. Regardless if they are flowering ornamentals or not, ornamentals can really catch the eye and make your landscape complete. National Library Outreach Day: Golf Cart Bookmobile-for-a-Day

Wednesday, April 26th, 2023, 3:00pm-6:00pm —Peachtree City

Join us as the Peachtree City Library celebrates National Library Outreach Day with our Bookmobile-for-a-Day golf cart tour of the paths, parks, and public facilities surrounding the library. We plan to make stops at Drake Field, Picnic Park, Luther Holt’s All Children’s Playground, McIntosh Trail Recreation Complex, The Gathering Place, Peachtree City Community Garden, and other parks as time allows. Meet us on the paths and in your favorite places to sign up for a library card, learn about all of our amazing library services, and browse a selection of books brought to you by golf cart on our Bookmobile-for-a-Day!
