Students in the Nutrition and Wellness classes at Whitewater High turned knife skills practice into a delicious finished product by making salsa.

The food science lab at Whitewater High has been busy cooking up tasty lessons. Students in the Nutrition and Wellness classes turned knife skills practice into a delicious finished product by making salsa.

In order to practice knife skills, every student in each class had to cut something to contribute to the salsa so they could show how well they handle their knives. They next day they got to enjoy their finished product.

“We make salsa because there are many items that need to be chopped and diced,” said teacher Carla Croft. “They start with 8-inch chef knives, and each class did very well. That means that no one cut themselves!”
